East and south of town, toward Blythewood and the Sandhills corridor into Kershaw County, sandy soil drains fast and a conventional gravity system is usually the right call. Closer to the clay-heavy ridges around western Lexington, low-pressure pipe or mound systems often do the job clay alone can’t.
